Ali (alias Ila Zair) is first and foremost a hip-hop enthusiast who transitioned to jazz guitar followed by then becoming a disciple of the Senia-Shahjahanpur gharana (ancestry) that specializes in the Sarod.

His playing now focuses on merging North Indian classical music with modern jazz harmony on a traditional unaltered 6-string electric guitar.
